Linda L. (Lester) Hatfield

Linda Hatfield, 74, of Coal Mountain, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 8, 1951, at Leatherwood, WV, she was the daughter of the late Rastus and Evia Walls Lester. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers: Arnold, Hubert, and Junior Lester, five sisters: Inos Ramsey, Katherine Hatfield, Loberta Stacy, Geneva Lester, and Shirley Browning, and two grandchildren, Christian Green, and Jamie Green.

Linda loved to sing gospel music. She sang with The Messengers Quartet for over 40 years. She loved spending time with her family and going to church.

Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Linda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her loving children, Pam (Bryan) Riffe, Allen (Samantha) Hatfield, and Tommy (Misty) Hatfield all of Coal Mountain, twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. One sister, Teresa Wallace of Gary. Her special friends, Glenna Hatfield and Rondell Hatfield both of Coal Mountain, Tina Holcomb of Hanover, Vivian Bishop of Simon, and Kathy Whitehead of Tennessee. Linda also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, as well as with many other dear friends and relatives.

Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 6-9 pm at Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church at Coal Mountain. Funeral services will be Sunday, July13, 2025, at 2:00 pm with the Reverend David Johnson, and Reverend Louis Collins officiating. To keep with Linda’s wishes, she will be cremated after services on Sunday.

Her loving smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
