Lorene Browning Obituary

Lorene Nester Browning of Verner, WV, changed her address to Heaven on Thursday, January 23, 2020, in the arms of her daughter. Lorene was eighty-six years young. She has gone home to be at the feet of Jesus.

Lorene was born on August 20, 1933, in Gilbert, to Charlie and Minnie (Vance) Nester.

Lorene married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Troy. They were married for sixty-one years and three months. Together, they had a life full of happiness and love for each other and their family, but above all, they loved the Lord. Lorene was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Verner Community Church. As a child, she attended the First Baptist Church of Gilbert with her mother and siblings. She later sang in the choir and attended the Gilbert Presbyterian Church as a teenager.

Lorene was a hard worker for her family. She kept a full-time job as her home was always immaculate, she cooked meals fit for a king, and she enjoyed her flower on her porch and in the yard. Along with Troy, she owned and operated Christie’s Exxon and Troy’s Sewer and Excavating Company.

Waiting on Lorene in Heaven were her parents, Charlie and Minnie, her beloved husband, Troy; her daughter, Pamela; her son, Phillip; and her son-in-law, Steve Nugent. Siblings who have also changed their address to Heaven are Eloise, Kathleen, Audra, Maysel, Chloe, Linda, Polly, Charles, Ronald, Roy, and Ray.

Lorene is survived by one daughter, Christie (Rocky) Conley of Crown, WV; three grandchildren: Sandie (Bubba) Hall of Morganton, NC, Denise (Brett) Browning of Browning Fork, Anthony (Kristen) Browning of Lansing, MI; six great-grandchildren: Erica (Chad) Gartin of Charleston, WV, Savannah (Jonathan) Anthony of Morganton, NC, Olivia Browning of Browning Fork, Dylan, Makenzie, and Lily Browning of Lansing, MI; six great-great-grandchildren: Addison, Bentley, Braxton, Carson, Hunter, and Kyler of Morganton, NC; one sister, Martha Browning of Wharncliffe, WV; son-in-law, David Fields of Delbarton, WV. Lorene also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, a special friend, Tab, who was by her side every day, and many other dear friends.

Rodney Robinette and Rev. Peggy Ryder officiating. Burial will follow in the Troy Browning Sr., Family Cemetery at Verner.
