Loretta (Hatfield) Mounts

Loretta (Hatfield) Mounts 74 of Hanover, WV departed this life Thursday, May 15, 2025, from her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 22, 1950, in Gilbert, WV she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Icey (Toler) Hatfield.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years: Carlos “Pedro” Mounts; her daughter: Connie Jo Smith; sister: Gail Daddario; brothers: Benny and Doug Hatfield.

Loretta enjoyed crocheting and taking care of animals, she was known to take in every stray that came along and care for them, but the greatest thing that she loved doing was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a member of the Sharon Heights Assembly Church.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her sons: Michael (Crystal Hicks) Mounts of Gilbert, WV, Dwayne (Crissy) Mounts of Sprattsville, WV; daughter: Bonnie (Ken) Smith of Red House, WV; son-in-law: Denny Smith of Hanover, WV; brother: Melvin Hatfield; sister: Zina Houck, both of Pennsylvania; special sister-in-law and caregiver: Brenda Wilson; grandchildren: Dillon (Kelsey) Smith, Brady (Maddie) Smith, Lainey (Brandon) Leyda, Mandi Smith, Kelsey, Kinsey, Connor, and Presleigh Mounts; great grandchildren: Dawson, Demi, Kade, and Brynn Smith, and Cameron Leyda; special caregiver: Kim Blankenship.  She also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives, friends, and acquaintances.

Friends may gather with the family Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 2:00pm till 3:00pm at the Sharon Heights Assembly Church at Horsepen, WV where funeral services will commence at 3:00pm with Pastor Arville Cline officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Hampden, WV.

Loretta will be carried to her resting place by pallbearers: Dwayne, Mike, and Connor Mounts, Ken, Denny, Brady, and Dillon Smith.  The honorary pallbearer will be J.R. Abbott.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
