Lorraine (Harding) Toler

On Saturday March 2, 2019 at 1:10pm in the afternoon Lorraine (Harding) Toler departed this life, as Jesus sent His angels to take her to her Heavenly home. She was surrounded by family and friends as she passed from this life at the age of 74. The world truly lost a great light, a light that must now be carried by those that loved her.

Lorraine was born on November 30, 1944 to Troy Harding and Ethel (Justice) Harding. She resided at Los Branch WV with her parents and siblings through her youth. As a young girl, she would walk for miles to be able to go to church every time the doors were open.

On May 1, 1961, she married the love of her life, Raymond John Toler and they were married until his passing of this life in 1983. She never remarried, always lovingly insisting that he was and will always be the love of her life.

Left to mourn the loss of Lorraine are her loving children, Roger (Mary) Toler of Justice WV, Amos Toler of Fredericksburg VA, Dallas (Dollie) Toler of Ragland WV, Mark (Jessica) Toler of Delbarton WV, Betty (Rex) Cline of Baisden WV, Pam Stewart of Bridgeport WV, Crystal Toler of Justice WV, and April (Todd) Mullins of Destin, FL.
She is also survived by her siblings, John (Diana) Harding of Harper WV, Bill (Linda) Harding of Lester WV, and Dave (Debra) Harding of Coolridge WV, along with a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends who loved her dearly.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond John Toler, and her loving son Benjamin Toler. She is also preceded in death by her sister Lena Ellis, Eunice Runyon, Ann Tolliver, Larry Harding, Jerry Harding, her parents Troy and Ethel Harding, and two special dogs, Prince and Titus.

Lorraine was a shining light to all who knew her, she was of Christian Faith, she loved to sing for the Lord, quote scriptures, paint, and spend time with family and friends. She was a homemaker and an outstanding cook. Lorraine’s house was a home that everyone would radiate to because when you were there, you always felt welcomed and loved. Her nurturing soul and gentle spirit made people want to be around her. She taught others about life by the example that she led.

The words of Abraham Lincoln can help to summarize the thoughts and feelings of her children left to feel the hurt from her loss,
“All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother”

Her faithful prayers were those of a righteous woman that could move mountains. She was a tremendous warrior with the armor of the Lord protecting her, a woman of virtue, with profound wisdom and unrelenting hope. She was a mother who fearlessly and obediently shared the gospel with everyone she come across. For those who were blessed enough to know her, they were warmed by her sweet presence and unforgettable smile. She never took credit for good deeds, she had the most humble and pure heart.

Through tragedies and hardships she never lost her beautiful spirit and love for the Lord. He was first and foremost in her life. She taught her children that serving the Lord was of upmost importance in their life. She walked hand and hand with the Lord for all of her days and when she could no longer walk, he carried her for the rest of her journey. Her faith was steadfast and never failing. For those left to mourn the loss of Lorraine on this Earth, She would most likely say something like this to them,
Do not mourn for me, I am rejoicing in heaven with our Father and those gone ahead of me. I long for you to be with me one day. This life is only a vapor on our way to our Heavenly rewards that await us, Oh how I wish you could see, so please, my loved ones, do not mourn for me. Celebrate my life on Earth, but also celebrate that I am shouting in Heaven and Rejoicing with the Lord Lorraine had the voice of an angel and even though Alzheimer’s took many things from her, she never lost the words of her songs that were planted like a seed in her soul. Like the old gospel song a seed that shall not be moved. Our loss is heaven’s gain and our time apart is only for a little while. With us she will remains, in our hearts, in our spirit, in the gentle wind that blows, in our songs that we sing, in our life that we live, we can all choose to carry on the her light and her memory, every single day for the rest of our lives.

The visitation for Lorraine will be Tuesday March 5, 2019 from 6-9pm with special services at 7:00pm and funeral services will be Wednesday March 6, 2019 at 1pm at the Justice Tabernacle with the Rev David Johnson, Rev Phillip Johnson and Rev Mitchell Bias officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery at Justice WV.  Special singing by Elizabeth Pyszkowski, Romaine Lester, Janet Cline and Larry Ferguson.

Her daughter Crystal wholeheartedly dedicated and devoted her life to caring for her mother in her last days and held her hand as she took her last breath. The family would like to give a special thank you to some amazing people who helped so very much in Lorraine’s last days on this Earth, Janet Cline, Romaine Lester, Kim Blankenship, Della New and Sandra Dean. We can never thank them enough for all they have done. Pallbearers serving will be the following: Raymond Toler (Honorary), Austin Toler (Honorary), Justin Toler (Honorary), David Jarrell, Todd Hamrick, Ethan Adkins, and Jeremy Lowe.

We pray one day there will be a cure for Alzheimer’s and no person or family has to experience the heartache of this terrible disease.
