Louie Glen Grimmett, 80 of Verner, WV departed this life Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Logan Regional Medical Center. Born on February 26, 1946, at Tamcliffe, WV he was the son of the late Freeland and Elzora (Browning) Grimmett.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Gary and Donald Grimmett; father-in-law: Charlie Gillispie; mother-in-law: Annis Lawrence Gillispie; a special brother-in-law: Clifford Michael Gillispie, who resided with Louie and Opal for 21 years.
Louie was a retired coal miner, and a member of the UMWA. He attended the Verner Community Church.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years: Opal (Gillispie) Grimmett; his sister Lisa (Greg) Walls; brothers: James (Earnestine) Grimmett, Rev. Walter (Pat) Grimmett, Phillip (JoAnn) Grimmett, all of Verner, WV. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear friends.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, April 20, 2026, after 6:00 p.m. at the Verner Community Church, Verner, WV. Funeral services will be held there at the church on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Walter Grimmett and Bro. Jay Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Dye-Browning Cemetery at Verner, WV.
Louie will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.
His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
