Lowell Thomas Green Sr., age 91, of Gilbert, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 3:29 p.m., surrounded by family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a hardworking milk man, and a proud West Virginian.
Born July 8, 1934, in Pineville, WV, he was the son of the late Phillip and Edith (Belcher) Green.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Philip Green Jr., Winston Green, Joe Green; sisters: Juanita Frazier, Laura Green, Helen Donnelly.
Lowell lived a life rooted in honesty, dependability, and service to his community. His steady work ethic and quiet strength were evident to all who knew him. He deeply loved West Virginia, its mountains, its people, and the life he built here. Home was not just a place for him; it was part of who he was.
He is survived by his daughter: Sheila Green; granddaughter: Rachel (Calvin Bota) Canterberry and great-granddaughter: Eden Starlet Canterberry; sisters: Ann Warren, Frieda Brown and Patricia Green; nephews: Michael (Christa) Green and Bob Green; along with extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. till 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will commence at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Lester officiating at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, West Virginia. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery at Browning Fork section of Gilbert, WV.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
