Marion Peak Obituary

Marion Ellis Peak, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025. Born on January 19, 1942, in Gilbert, WV, Marion was the daughter of Ethel Coffey Ellis and Maurice Ellis. She was a 1959 graduate of Gilbert High School and earned her master’s degree in education from Marshall University. Marion taught at Gilbert Grade School from 1972 through 1987. She then moved to St. Petersburg, where she continued to teach at Pinellas Park Middle School, from 1987 through 2009. Marion was loved by so many of her students, she was a teacher for thirty-seven years. She would receive messages from her students, thanking her for her loving dedication and for her guidance throughout the years.

Marion was a member of the Gilbert Presbyterian Church until she moved to Florida, in 1987 and then became a member of Maximo Presbyterian in St. Petersburg.  She was very active in the church as a young girl until she moved to Florida in 1987. She was very involved with the music for the church and eventually became the Choir Director and pianist. Gilbert Presbyterian Church was such a large part of her life.

Marion was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Ellis and her mother, Ethel Ellis. She is survived by her two children; Paige Ball (Jenry), John Peak (Robin) and Eric Peak, who she loved as a son; her four grandchildren; Tony Ball (Manisha), Stephanie Diaz (Eddie), John Paul Peak, and Christopher Ball; by her seven great grandchildren, and her loving family members; Bill Peak, Sherry Peak and Faye Davis; Cousins; Roger Simonds, Sr., Kathleen Grote, Bob Pauley, Bonnie Pauley, Sidney Ackett and Rick Ackett.

Marion’s life was a testament of devotion and unwavering love for her family, friends, students and her strong faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Any donations can be made in her memory, to the Gilbert Presbyterian Church.
