Mary Francis Hatfield. 78 of Amherstdale, WV passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, June 28, 2025, of a short illness. Born July 19, 1946, at Man, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Van Dailey and Beulah (Toler) Browning.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Roger Eugene Hatfield; brothers: David Clayton Browning, Sr., Rev. Van Douglas Browning, Nick Browning, Robert Browning, Harry (Clarice) Browning, Cecil (Emma Bell) Browning, Vaughn (Peggy) Browning, Caine “Shab” Browning; one sister: Virginia Cook; and a very special son-in-law: Russell Lewis Nelson, II.
Mary was retired and spent her days at home taking care of her house and family. In her many years, she spent every day with her love Roger. Together they owned Hatfield transport and worked very hard for everything they had. Roger was her soul mate and even after his death she remained faithful. She never even looked at another man, Mary was also a very faithful woman to God. She was an active member of Man Church of God until her illness took over and she wasn’t able. To know Mary was to love her. She was the kind of person everyone ran to when things got tough. One of the humblest people anyone could have met. No matter what life threw her way, she grabbed it by the horns. Mary loved her family more than anything in this world, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for someone. Mary absolutely oved listening to the birds; and watching for the deer to come sown her hill. She just loved life, and she was so full of it. Mary lived a long and fulfilled life. She fought a hard fight but, in the end, she won the victory. The team that guided and helped her through that fight could never be thanked enough.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are her three loving children: Eugene Dailey Hatfield (Christy Vest), Shelby Hatfield-Zirkle (Billy Dotson), Rodney Hatfield (Tonya Stevens); she also had three special children: Savannah Nelson (Edward) White, Brianna (Michael) Berry, and Autumn Hatfield; grandchildren: Kaitlin (Jordan) Standifur of Pikeville, KY, Dustin Hurley, Willow Hatfield, and Gabby Stevens; four great grand children that were the apples of her eyes: Erin Danielle, Harper Mae, Raelee Grace, and Russell Lewis Nelson, III; she also had three special nieces: Mary Browning “Fess”, Sharon (Terry) Harvey, and Betty Jo (Dennis) Walls, Darrell and Louise Browning; her very best friend: Marie Cazin. She also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home where funeral services will commence at 12:00 pm with rev. Bobby Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
Mary will be carried to her resting place by her friends and family who walked through life with her.
Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
