Maudie Oneta (Gibson) Smith

Maudie Oneta (Gibson) Smith, 90 of Hampden, WV departed this life Tuesday, December 10, 2024, peacefully from her residence, to be with her Lord and Savior.

Born August 15, 1934, at Litwar, WV she was the daughter of the late Dicey May (Hayden) and Clayton Gibson.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband: James Edward Smith; sisters: Cora Gibson and Hallie Hogston; brothers: James, Herbert, Ira, Delmer, Raymond, Willie, and Carl Gibson.

Maudie served the Lord for many years and was a great prayer warrior for so many people, she loved attending church, and spending time with her family, she also enjoyed shopping when she was able.  She was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to mourn her loss are her daughters: Jean Cline of Baisden, WV, Gaynell (Gary) VanNatter and Joyce (Jimmy) Groves, all of Gilbert, WV, Kathy (Roger) VanNatter of Charleston, WV; her sons: James Edward Smith of Gilbert, WV and Eugene (Shellie) Chambers of Ripley, WV; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends who she loved dearly.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, December 13, 2024, from 6 till 9 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, where funeral services will commence on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Bo Starr and Rev. Gary Starr officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Hampden, WV.

Maudie will be carried to her resting place by Toby Colangelo, Dustin, Brody, Gary K. VanNatter, James and Eddie Ray Smith, James Cline, and Josh Morgan.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
