Michael “Penguin” Blankenship, 66 of Ben Creek, WV, departed this life Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from Logan Regional Medical Center. Born March 9, 1958, at Williamson, WV, he was the son of the late Mack and Ruth “Bun” (Chafin) Blankenship.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister: Wilma Jean Miller.
Michael was a simple man known for his funny character, love for chickens, and his motorcycle. He held many careers throughout his lifetime. He was of the Church of Christ Faith and attended the Ben Creek Church of Christ.
Those left to love and cherish his memory include his lifetime companion: Nancy Burgraff of Ben Creek, WV; 2 daughters: Sheila (Matt) Jetton of Hixson, TN and Ruthie (Sherman) Green of Hixon, TN; 1 sister: Michelle Stepp of Inez, KY; 3 grandchildren: Elizabeth Jetton, Charlotte Jetton, and Avery Green; 3 that were like sons: Melvin Bolden, Anthony Bolden, and Michael Burgraff. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, January 27, 2025, from 12:00 till 1:00 pm at the Ben Creek Church of Christ where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Gene Clemens officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery at Ben Creek, WV.
Michael will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.
His memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
