Ada Pauline “Polly” Cole, 84, seen the face of Jesus on January 9, 2026, at Pikeville Medical Center, in Kentucky.
She was born in Glen Alum, WV, to Earl and Helen (Bragg) Cole on January 23, 1941.
Known to many of her students as Ms. Polly, she graduated from Gilbert High and soon moved to Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and worked for a large restaurant as a head cook. She moved back to West Virginia in 1977 and went to college and became a Head Start teacher for Mingo County. She retired after 30 years.
She was a member of the Freedom Full Gospel Church where she did a wonderful card ministry for the church. She lived at Trinity Nursing Home for 2 years.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister: Dell Cole Brenner of Strongville, OH; and her brother, James Cole of Columbus, OH.
She is survived by her siblings, Bill Cole of Durham, NC, Pete Cole of Hixsson, TN, Doug (Windy) Cole of Rock Hill, SC, Cyndi (Steve) Dixon of Springfield, OH, and Kaye (Pewee) Gibson of Delbarton, WV. She also leaves behind a host of friends, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Freedom Full Gospel Church at Hampden, WV, on Monday, January 12, 2026, visitation from 12:00 p.m. till 1:00 p.m., funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Carl “Cab” Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in the Bragg Family Cemetery at Hampden, WV.
Pallbearers will be Teddy Robinette, Steve Dixon, Sammy Wolford, Gary Dean, and Justin Salmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Pewee Gibson, Bruce Gibson, and Jeff Gibson.
