Nancy Sue (Mounts) Blankenship

Nancy Sue (Mounts) Blankenship, 73 of Baisden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 2, 2020 from her residence.

Born November 15, 1946 at Slab Town, Gilbert, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Inas (Stanley) Mounts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Marlene Roberts and Louise Campbell; brother: Pedro Mounts; paternal grandparents: Leonard and Mae Spratt Mounts; maternal grandparents: George and Alta Bradford Stanley.

Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and Mimi to all her nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was a retired Secretary from Gilbert High School.  Sue was a seamstress and loved to quilt.  She was a member of the Full Gospel Church of God of Baisden.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her loving husband: Curtis Blankenship of Baisden, WV; her daughter: Taunia (John) Smith of Varney, WV; granddaughter: Sydney (William) Varney; grandson: Tre’ Smith; great grandsons: Dawcyn and Daccyn Smith; great granddaughter: Nocha Sue Varney of Varney, WV; two nieces she helped raise and loved as her own: Erica (Garrett) Cline of Wharncliffe and Kaylah (Hassel) Lester of Baisden, WV; a great niece dear to her heart: Addison Lester; sisters: Brenda Wilson of Gilbert, Barbara (Bruce) Myers of Charleston, and Sharon (Eugene) Ellis of Dunnelon, FL; brothers: Charles Mounts of Gilbert and Donald Mounts of Ocala, FL.  She also leaves behind a host of friends and all those students she loved dearly from her days at Gilbert High School that she claimed as her own.

Friends may gather with the family Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 6 to 9:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will commence there at the chapel Sunday, June 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Jonas Trent and Bro. Timer May officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hollywood Cemetery in Gilbert, WV.

Sue will be carried to her resting place by pallbearers: Garrett Cline, Adam Johnson, Dwayne Mounts, Mike Mounts, Will Varney and John Smith, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are Tre’ Smith, Hassel Lester, Charles Mounts, J.R. Abbott.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
