Pastor William Randall Staton, 74, of Coal Mountain, West Virginia, passed peacefully with dignity and strength at home on September 29, 2021.

He was born December 21, 1946, in Guyan to the late Rev. Garland and Rev. Veatrice Staton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by the love of his life and Mother of his three daughters, Barbara “Bobbie” Staton, and his three brothers: Johnny, Ronnie, and Edward Staton.

Pastor Randall was a retired plant foreman, President of the Board of the Coal Mountain Fire Dept., one of the Founding Fathers, Captain, volunteer firefighter of the Coal Mountain Volunteer Fire Dept. for 46 years, an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army, an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. Randall was a life-long Atlanta Braves supporter.

Pastor Randall was saved on March 19, 1975, and he began his calling as a preacher in 1976, following his time pursuing his passion to sing as a member of the Messenger Quartet. He loved singing with the Justice Tabernacle Choir and his family. Pastor Randall was a faithful Shepherd of Justice Tabernacle Church of Justice, West Virginia, beginning in 1977 and serving for 36 years.

Those left to celebrate his life are three daughters: Lori Michele (Mark) Dameron of Princeton, WV; Kimberly Deneise (Calvin) Browning of Sumter, SC; and Shanda Rae (Scott) Lester of Pineville, WV; one special chosen “daughter,” Patricia Ann “Sissy” Thompson; one granddaughter, Ashlee Brianne Browning; six grandsons, Austin Wade Browning; Dalton Ray Lester; Hunter Scott Lester; Wyatt Jayson Lester; Tanner Wesson Lester; and Jaxon Thomas Lester; and two step-grandchildren, Colby Marc Dameron and Santana Rae Dillon; and four step-great grandchildren. He has four brothers: Morris (Sue) Staton; Garland Jr. (Sheila) Staton; Gary (the late Teresa) Staton; and Larry Paul (Cindy) Staton; he has four sisters, Virginia Sue (the late Robert) Lynn; Linda Lou Staton-West; Priscilla Ann (the late Rick) Stewart, and Naomi Ruth Staton.  Randall also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, a loving and dedicated church family, and a great multitude of friends.

Friends may gather with the family Sunday, October 3, 2021 after 6:00 pm at the Justice Tabernacle Church at Justice, WV.  Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Monday, October 4, 2021, at Justice Tabernacle Church in Justice, West Virginia, with Rev. David Johnson and one special friend Ravin Kenneda officiating. Burial will follow at Coal Mountain Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Austin Browning; Dalton Lester; Louie Vanover; Darren Kenneda; Terry Hamrick; Shane West; Todd Davis; Hunter Lester; Cody Short; Tommy Lynn; Chris Thompson; D.J. Glasscock; and Dylan Glasscock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Lester; Mark Dameron; Freddie Lee West II; and Calvin Browning.

Mounts Funeral Home in Gilbert, WV, is in charge of Randall’s last ride with his special friend, “Hoppy” Mounts.

Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post # 1144, Iaeger, WV.

The family requests that facial masks and social distancing be observed.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
