Ralph Trent

Ralph Trent, a beloved resident of Gilbert, WV, took his heavenly flight on May 1st, 2023, at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, WV. Ralph was born on February 23, 1944, to the late Fleming and Lucy (Dameron) Trent.

Ralph was a devoted husband to Rita Lester for 60 years, and together they lived in Niagara Falls, NY, for 11 years before moving back to their beloved WV hometown of Gilbert. He was a man of many passions, but above all, he was dedicated to serving the Lord. Ralph was an inspiration to many, and he served the churches he attended in the area and in Niagara Falls with his whole heart. He was a deacon, adult and youth Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, song leader, choir leader, busing ministry volunteer, and Trustee on the Board of Directors. Ralph was a member of Isaban Southern Baptist Church and was deeply loved by all the churches and communities he was a part of. 

Ralph was also a dedicated grandfather, and he cherished his time with his granddaughters. In addition, he was a member of The Road Angels Car Club, where he enjoyed spending time with his car club buddies. He loved fishing with his two friends at the campground and competing with them over who caught the biggest fish. Ralph also enjoyed going to church while at the campground.

Ralph will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His dedication to serving the Lord, his kind and generous spirit, and his love for his family and friends will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Eugene (Phyllis) Trent, sisters Marlene (Richard) Boyer and Corenia (Denver) Alexander along with his in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler Lester, brother-in-law Charles (Anna) Lester, sister-in-law Phyllis (Denver) Stacy, brother-in-law Truman Roberts, and brother-in-law Carlo Gentiletti. 

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife Rita, his daughter Cynthia Gentiletti of Vineland, NJ, and his son Robert (Italia G) Trent of TN; his granddaughters who he adored Ayla (Blake) Christy of Haddon Heights, NJ, and Tabitha Gentiletti of Philadelphia, PA; his brother Bill (Rosemary) Trent of Manassas, VA; his sisters Pat Dillon of Welch, WV, and Casie (Joe) Grzelka of Bluefield, WV; his sisters-in-law Meladean Roberts of Statesville, NC and Pat Gentiletti of Bridgeton, NJ; his special nephew and niece Denver Dale and Lori Stacy and their daughter Jenna who is always ready to lend a helping hand. 

Friends and family may gather on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Mounts Funeral Home in Gilbert, WV from 11am to 1pm with the funeral commencing at 1pm with Pastor Gary Justice and Donnie Stacy. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Logan, WV.

Honorary Pallbearers: Denver Dale Stacy, Reed Adams, Jackie Thompson, Johnnie Mounts, Teddy Morgan, Larry Icenhour, Kendall Simpson, Charles (Pete) Cline, Ott Trent, Noah Hardin, and Timmy St. Clair.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
