Richard Deer, Sr., 60 of North Spring, departed this life Saturday, December 2, 2023, from his residence.
Born on August 29, 1963, at Logan, WV he was the son of the late Cecil and Leona (Rose) Deer, Sr.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law: Jackson and Viola Grimmett; sisters: Doris Muncy, Joyce Sheppard, Diane Conley; niece: Meagan Allen; nephew: Tony Deer; brothers-in-law: Robert Marcum and Harrison Sheppard.
Richard enjoyed four-wheel riding, fishing, watching crime shows and spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his children: Ashley Sheppard and Phillip (Whitney) Deer, all of Logan, WV, Desiree (Brandon) Bailey of Brenton, WV, Richard (Cathleen) Deer, Jr, of Sabine, WV, Destiny Deer (Shonathan Blankenship) of Justice, WV; grandchildren: Jason and Kaleigh Horne, Nevaeh Barker, Blake, Natalie, and Gavin Deer, all of Logan, WV, Nevaeh Copley, Brayleigh and Jackson Deer, all of Sabine, WV, Raelyn Lester of Gilbert Creek, WV, Kimber Bailey of Brenton, WV; ex-wife and friend: Sandra Deer; sister: Sharon Marcum; brother: Junie (Goldie) Deer, all of Logan, WV. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Friday, December 8, 2023, from 12:00 till 2:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bill Cresong officiating. Burial will follow in the Grimmett Family Cemetery in the Stafford Branch section of Gilbert, WV.
Richard will be carried to his resting place by pallbearers: Richard Deer, Jr., Brandon Bailey, Brayden Hatfield, Shonathan, Jordan, and Jacob Blankenship. The honorary pallbearer is Lonnie Collins.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
