Rickey Hatfield Obituary

Rickey Lee Hatfield aka “Zag” to his friends, departed this life on Friday, December 5, 2025. He was born at Coal Mountain, WV, on April 10, 1954, to the late Robert Lee and Florence (Poe) Hatfield.

He was preceded in death by his companion Evelyn Addison and his brothers: Charles Edward Hatfield, Rodney Gale Hatfield, James Steve Hatfield and Frankie Dale Hatfield.

Those left to mourn his loss are his brothers: William (Patricia) Hatfield of Tyler, Alabama, Glenn (Linda) Hatfield of Simon, West Virginia, and Richard Hatfield of Knoxville, Tennessee.

He was a great mason, known by many as one of the very best when it came to laying brick and block.

He will also be remembered with love by the family of his late partner, Evelyn Addison, whom he cared for deeply and whose children and grandchildren he embraced like his own. He shared a special friendship with Kenny Cline and will be missed by a host of other friends. Though he didn’t have much, he would give you all he had. Above all, he was a humble, simple man, loved by all who knew him.

To honor his wishes, he will be cremated and put to rest beside Evelyn in the spring at the Coal Mountain Community Cemetery at Coal Mountain, West Virginia.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
