Roger Lee Cantrell, 69 of Wharncliffe, WV departed this life Thursday, September 26, 2024.
Born November 27, 1954, at Welch, WV, he was the son of the late John Dingess and Barbara Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by a stillborn sister: Merlene Cantrell.
Roger was a loving husband, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed nature, and as he would often take his walks, he was always feeding the horses, ducks and other animals that he saw in the area, he liked to hunt, fish, garden, and attend to the flowers. He was a member of the Christ Temple Church, Williamson, WV., a retired coal miner and a graduate of Gilbert High School, Class of 1973.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 49 years: Lorna Sue (Ellis) Cantrell of the home; daughter: Stephanie (Daniel) Pack of Huff Creek, WV; son: Todd (Melinda) Cantrell of Logan, WV; grandchildren: Kalen and Todd Cantrell, Jr., Brittany and Tyler Walker; siblings: Frank Cantrell of Logan, WV, James “Randolph” Cantrell, John Cantrell, Jr, both of Wharncliffe, WV, Pauline Cantrell of Logan, WV, Lois Lester of Holden, WV. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, September 30, 2024, from 11:00 am till 12:00 pm at the Christ Temple Church, Williamson, WV. Funeral services will commence there at the church at 12:00 pm with Elder Thomas Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
Roger will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are Billy Gilkerson, Anthony Adams, Paul Lee, and Charlie Wright.
His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
