Ronald David Short, 72 of Davin, WV departed this life on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 17, 1951 in Gilman Bottom, he was the son of the late John B. and Ruby K. (Nunley) Short.
In addition to his parents, Ronald is also preceded in death by one sister: Judy Nelson Whittaker; one brother: Donald Wayne Short; niece: Crystal Baisden Adkins; brothers-in-law: Steve and William Marich, and Clarence Jude; and sister-in-law: Billie (Baisden) Short.
Ronald was a US Air Force Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was a retired UMWA coal miner and an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed watching sports, but especially his Cincinnati Reds and Man High Hillbilly Football. Ronald was a born again Christian, that loved his family and his Lord and Savior dearly.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years: Martha Diane (Marich) Short of the home; his Son: Christopher (Michelle) Short of Newport News, VA; his Daughter: Aimee (William) Bailey of Swansboro, NC; four granddaughters: Cassie (Daniel) Johnson of Las Vegas NV, Mikaela (Zack) Boling of Ft. Leonard Wood MO, and Mya and Chloe Short both of Newport News VA; two grandsons: William Thomas Bailey II and Preston David Bailey both of Swansboro NC; two great grandchildren: Lexi and Zander Johnson; three brothers: Jerry and Bradley Short both of Midwest City OK, and Larry (Vickie) Short of Gilbert SC; one sister: Sharon (Larry) Baisden of Gilman Bottom; three sisters-in-law: Stella (Clarence) Jude and Debie (William) Marich both of Man, and Katherine (Steve) Marich of Huntington; Nieces: Shannon Jude, Megan Russell, Lori Davis Accord, Delinda Wilson, Kandi Giamello, Elizabeth Browning, Kathy Nelson, Brandi Coleman, Candace Hixenbaugh, April Short Williamson, and Kearstin Adkins; Nephews: Michael & Billy Davis, Larry Baisden, Lee Short, Kyle Short, Jake and Brian Adkins; and a very special friend and neighbor: James Roberts.
To honor Ronald’s wishes he will be cremated.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
