Ronald Ray Smith

Ronald Ray Smith, 75 of White Sulphur Springs, WV received his Heavenly reward and his healing on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, with his loving family gathered around him.

Born on April 8, 1946 at Hunt, WV he was the son of the late Ada Bell (Grimmett) and Hurst Smith.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers: Junior, Jack, and Alvin Smith; sisters: Juanita Calhoun, Becky Hatfield, and Sheila Smith.

Ronald enjoyed hunting, but his greatest joy came from tinkering around on anything that he felt needed to be fixed or done, he was always busy doing something, many would say that he was a “workaholic”.  Ronald was active in his churches, Neola Baptist Church and Wild Meadow Baptist Church, also he enjoyed attending the Sweetwater Baptist Church in Tennessee, which held a special place in his heart.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss, are his loving wife: Onetia “Duddy” (Rogers) Smith of the home; his daughters: Cherrie Smith of Loudon, TN and Renee (Shon) Bernard of Lewisburg, WV; his sons: Kenny (Cyndi) Smith of Bruno, WV and Ronald “Punkin” (Melissa) Smith of Stowe, WV; his grandchildren: Brittany (Evan) Murrell, Krysten (Mikie) Sansom, Lavonda (Mikey) Delong, Zack Smith, Tierra Smith Jett Smith Bernard; great grandchildren: Annalee and Ruby Murrell, Hunter, Keatley and Lacie Sansom, Ross and Jackson Delong; his sisters: Patty Lafferty of Elk Creek and Shelby Sugg of Bruno; his brother: Donald Smith of Somerset, Ohio; lifelong friends: Posey Perry, Dan Morgan, Barry Brown and Teddy Robinette.  He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Monday, December 13, 2021 from 12:00 till 2:00 pm at the Sandlick Freewill Baptist Church at Bruno, WV.  Funeral services will commence there at the church on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bill Cantrell, Rev. Tilly Walls, and Rev. James Ellis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery at Horsepen, WV.

Ronald will be carried to his resting place by pallbearers: Shon Bernard, Evan Murrell, Mike Delong, Robbie Smith, Alan Rider, Robert Miller, and Dave Toler.  Honorary pallbearers are: David “Bud” Walker, Mikie Sansom, Steven Smith, and Kelly Wykle.

There will also be A Celebration of Life Memorial Service  held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 2:00 till 4:00 pm at the Neola Baptist Church in Neola, WV.

He may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
