Ronald Stacy Obituary

Ronald Gene Stacy, born February 13, 1958, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Born in Welch, West Virginia, Ronald was the beloved son of Mack and Leola Loberta Stacy. He was a humble and kind-hearted man who rarely spoke harshly and had a gift for connecting with anyone he met. His gentle spirit and easy conversation left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him.

Ronald attended Freedom Full Gospel Church for many years. He dedicated over 20 years of his life working as an underground coal miner. He also found great joy in carpentry work, often working alongside his son-in-law and grandsons, as well as with members of his church group who faithfully served others in need.

Ronald was a devoted father. As a single parent for much of his son’s life, he lovingly embraced both the role of mother and father. He could always be found in the stands, cheering on his son at countless ballgames—never missing a single one. Even after his son graduated, his love for sports remained strong. He enjoyed watching football and spent many evenings relaxing with his favorite westerns, The Virginian and Bonanza. He also had a special love for dogs, which brought him great joy throughout his life.

Ronald’s greatest companion and best friend was his wife, Sherry. He often said that God brought them together, a belief that was evident in the love and devotion they shared. Together, they enjoyed traveling, but their favorite place was always “Granny’s place” in North Carolina. There, they spent countless peaceful evenings by the water—a place that held special meaning, as it was where they were united in marriage.

Ronald embraced Sherry’s family as his own, and they, in turn, loved him dearly. In marrying his wife, Ronald embraced not just a partner but an entire family, growing closely to Myra Lilly, Kristin and Clark Blackburn, Pastor Barry Cline, the grandchildren, and a beloved “Granny”, Verna Cline. He loved the children as if they were his own, and it didn’t take long before he proudly and lovingly became known as “Papa” to them.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Mack Stacy; his mother, Leola Loberta Stacy; his brothers, Benny Ray Stacy and Mack Dennis Stacy; and his first grandchild, Tiara Jade Stacy.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sherry (Cline) Stacy; his son, Ronnie (Candice) Stacy of Gilbert, West Virginia; his stepdaughter, Cortney (Burton) Reed of Martin’s Ferry, Ohio; his step-son, Nicolas Queen of Virginia Beach, Virginia, his sister, Debbie (Dennis) Albright of Dawsonville, Georgia; his beloved granddaughters, Jaclyn and Kendall Stacy, and Ella and Shiloh Reed;  his grandsons, Oliver, Benjamin, Titus, and Elias Reed; a special nephew Micheal Stacy, along with many other dear family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Stacy, Clark Blackburn, Burton Reed, Oliver Reed, Titus Reed, and Benjamin Reed.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chassie Cline, Pastor Barry Cline, Pastor Cab Wolford, Mike Carter, Peewee Gibson, Roger Endicott, and Eric Endicott.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at 12:00 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, at Freedom Full Gospel with services beginning at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Cab Wolford and the reading of the obituary by Roger Endicott. He will be laid to rest at the Cline Family Cemetery in Baisden, WV.

As we gather together on Good Friday to celebrate Ronald’s life, may we also reflect on the gift God gave us—His Son, Jesus Christ—and find comfort in knowing that Ronald is at peace in His presence.
