Ruby (Simpson) Blankenship

Ruby G. (Simpson) Blankenship, 88 of Gilbert, WV departed this life Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from Logan Regional Medical Center.  Born August 11, 1936, at Justice, WV she was the daughter of the late Earl and Birdie (Blankenship) Simpson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons: Johnny and Jessie James Blankenship; sisters: Liz Glover, Vicie Martinelli, Marie Browning; brothers: Tony and James Simpson.

Ruby enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family; she especially loved drinking Pepsi soda.  She was of the Baptist Faith.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her husband of 74 years: James Edward Blankenship; her sons: Kenneth Blankenship (Stella Hatfield), Freddy (Sherry) Blankenship, Jackie (Eva) Blankenship, all of Gilbert; daughter: Sherry (Randy) Hatfield of Pigeon Creek; daughter-in-law: Debbie Blankenship of Horsepen; caregiver: Vickie Colangelo.  She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, and other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 12:00 till 1:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Roger Endicott officiating.  Burial will follow in the Isaac Mounts Cemetery at Baisden, WV.

Ruby will be carried to her resting place by her family and friends.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
