Susan (Sparks) Christian, 63, of Hampden, WV, stepped peacefully into the arms of her Savior on the morning of Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born January 20, 1962, Susie was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Opal Sparks. She is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her parents and her beloved siblings Patricia Sparks, Charlotte Sparks, Leonard Sparks, Maggie Sparks Trespasso, and Barbara Sparks Simpkins.
Though her earthly journey has ended, Susie’s legacy of love and faith continues to shine through those she leaves behind: her only son Nicholas (Brittani) Christian; the lights of her life, her grandsons Brady and Lincoln Christian; and Mickey Christian, to whom she shared over 40 years of marriage with. She is also survived by her many brothers and sisters—Norma (Harold) Cagigas, Arthur Jr. (Melvis) Sparks, Joann Cline, Virginia Braswell, Charles (Linda) Sparks, Donnie (Terry) Sparks, Kathy (Gary) Hatfield, Jackie (Eugene) Vance, David Sparks, and George (Tammy) Sparks— as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A graduate of Gilbert High School, Susie later became a homemaker and mother, however her favorite title was “Mamaw”. Susie loved the Lord and was a member of the Pie Church of God. She was a shining light to all who knew her.
Her life will be celebrated at Mounts Funeral Home in Gilbert, WV on Friday, August 22 from 6 PM to 9 PM with Rev. Landon Grimmett leading the service and Pastor Brian Wellman officiating. A Homegoing service will follow on Saturday, August 23 at 1 PM, with Pastor Chris Sparks officiating. Burial will take place at Hatfield Cemetery in Hampden, WV.
Pallbearers Garrett Cline, Chaise Slone, Michael Taylor, Donald Christian, Kenneth Trent, and Johnny Woolum will honor her by carrying her to her resting place, with honorary pallbearers Eugene Vance, Charles Sparks, George Sparks, Arthur Sparks Jr., Donnie Sparks, and David Sparks.
Though we grieve, we rejoice in knowing that Susie has entered eternal peace, free from pain, and embraced by the love of her Heavenly Father. Her life was a testament to faith and family.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
—Isaiah 41:10
