Tammy Ann (Murphy) Cohenour

     Tammy Ann Cohenour, 60, of Wharncliffe, WV, took her last breath on this earth in the afternoon hours of March 12, 2025.  She was surrounded by loved ones, covered by the love and prayers of all the ones that could not be there, and by the blood of her savior that decided to call her home.   When she took her last breath and opened her eyes again, she was entering her eternal kingdom and being reunited with the love of her life that she had missed so much for the past 20 years. 

     To know Tammy was to love her. There are so many things that will remain in our hearts and minds.  Without notice, we will be flooded with memories of some of the many moments that Tammy was a part of in so many of our lives.  It could have been one of the many dance sessions in her living room, a very competitive game of volleyball, an adventurous 4-wheeler ride on the river, family cookouts and campfires that were only complete with her famous baked beans or cream puff cake, cheering on her grandkids from the stands at their many sporting events, or her celebrating in the love of the Lord at church.  She found happiness in so many things, especially when she was warm, snuggled in her pajamas, enjoying cake of any kind, or sipping on her bottle of Diet Dr Pepper.

     She was a loving wife to Mark for many years, a devoted mother to Jessica, and everything a Maw Maw should be to Cole and Ciara.  She lived her life for her family, and they brought joy and purpose to her life, especially during the hard times when she was battling her body and enduring sickness.  She fought so hard to live for them, and they gave her the strength to keep living on this earth as long as she did, because they loved her so fiercely.

     She was blessed with family from all sides.  She was a constant in the lives of her parents and siblings, and when she married Mark, she inherited another family.  Words like “in-law” had no place in her inherited family. It was just family and that was something that remained steadfast, even in the many years after Marks’ passing.

     She was abundantly blessed with more nieces and nephews than could be named individually.  She was “Sis” to everyone, and she loved them all as her own kids.  She was always so proud of all things wonderful and exciting that happened in each of their lives, and she loved to make jokes and tease them about their growing families.  She was always there, and shared in the pain and disappointment when things were not always going as planned, and worried like all mothers do about everyone.

     She was always a fun person, a beautiful person and had a heart of gold. All of those qualities were exemplified when she accepted the love of Jesus and decided to give her life to the Lord many years ago.   She loved to attend church and be with church family when she could, and God gave her more peace and understanding as her health changed and she continued to hold on to that faith during the rest of her time here on earth. She was so loved and will be so missed until we are all reunited again in heaven forever.

     Tammy was preceded in death by her loving husband Mark, her father, Arlin Murphy, brother, Arlin Dale Murphy, mother and father-in-law, Grover and Viola Cohenour, brothers-in-law, Earl Dotson, Harold New, and Charles Cohenour, sister-in- law, Betty Dotson, and her furry child Bridget.

     Tammy is survived by her loving daughter and best friend Jessica Brown, son-in-law, Josh Brown, her most prized treasures, her grandchildren, Ciara and Cole Brown, mother, Patty Murphy, brother Danny (Natasha) Murphy, sisters, Debbie (Craig) Patrick, and Missy (Timmy) Hatfield, brother-in-law, Carl (Della)Cohenour, sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Dotson, Diane New, Marsha (Mitchell) Stevens, and Angela (Terry) England, many loving nieces and nephews, and her grand-dogs Holly, and Ellie.

     A Visitation will take place at Mounts Funeral Home on Monday, March 17th from 6 - 9 pm, and the Funeral Service will commence on Tuesday, March 18th at 2 pm.  She will be buried in the Cohenour Family Cemetery, Wharncliffe WV, with Family and Friends serving as pallbearers.

     Gone from this earth, but forever in the hearts and memories of all the ones that remain behind.
