Taunia Lynn (Hale) Smith, 54 of Varney, went home to be with her mother, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 3:17 pm from Pikeville Medical Center.
Born January 6, 1968 at Wayne, Michigan, Taunia was the daughter of David (Vickie) Hale and the late Sue (Mounts) Hale.
In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: George and Inas (Stanley) Mounts; father-in-law: Lewis Smith; mother-in-law: Shelby (Mullins) Smith.
Taunia was a very loving wife, mother, gammy, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to everyone. Taunia loved to craft and decorate. She also enjoyed shopping, talking on the phone, and spending time with her husband and children, and having sleepovers with her grandbabies.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are her loving husband of 27 years: John Smith of Varney, WV; her daughter: Sydney (William) Varney; son: Tre Smith; grandsons: Dawcyn and Daccyn Smith; granddaughter: Nocha Sue Varney, all of Varney, WV; sisters-in-law: Sandy Keator of N.C., and Tina (Donnie) Spence of Belo, WV; nieces: Kimberlee Spence and Katelynn Spence of Belo, WV., and Whitney (Matt) Bowen of N.C.; two special cousins who she helped her mother raise and loved as her own: Erica (Garrett) Cline of Wharncliffe, WV and Kaylah (Hassel) Lester of Baisden, WV. She also leaves behind a host of friends who she loved and thought of as family.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 1:00 till 2:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Evangelist Glen Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery at Cedar, WV.
Taunia will be carried to her resting place by pallbearers: John Smith, Tre Smith, William Varney, Garrett Cline, Michael Keith Mounts, and Dwayne Mounts.
Taunia will be missed by everyone and forever loved deeply by her husband, children, grandbabies, and the rest of the family. We know that she is rejoicing with her mother and no longer suffering.
If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever.
