V. Ruth Hatfield

V. Ruth Hatfield, 85, of Coal Mountain passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Wyoming Nursing and Rehab.

Born on May 22, 1932 at Norton, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Cap and Effie (Simms) Sutherland.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was also preceded in death by her loving husband: Alva Edison Hatfield; her son: Billy Ray Hatfield; her sister: Lillian “Bill” Compton; nephews: Ronald and Roy Lee Compton.

Ruth was a member of the Big Cub Missionary Church.  She was always putting others before herself, she had the most generous loving heart, and touched many lives with her presence.

Those left to love and cherish her memories are her daughter: Rita (Butch) Davis; her granddaughter: Krista (Fred) Warrix, all of Coal Mountain; her grandson: Greg Davis of North Carolina; Her grandchildren: Haven and Abe Davis of North Carolina, Brooke, Braylee and Bryce Warrix, all of Coal Mountain.  Ruth had many close friends, but a very special one that she loved very much, Donna Newsome.

Friends may gather with the family Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Big Cub Missionary Church at Coal Mountain, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Glenn Hatfield and Rev. Jeremy Warrix officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hatfield Community Cemetery at Coal Mountain.

Ruth will be carried to her final resting place by her family and friends.

Her loving heart and gentle smile will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
