Viola (Stevens) Grimmett

Viola Grimmett, 70, of Gilbert went to her heavenly home on July 17, 2020 at Logan Regional Medical Center.  Born September 24, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Emma Stevens.  In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her brothers Jessie Stevens Jr. and Arthur Stevens; sisters Connie Stevens and Rose Mary Plumley. 

Viola was a member of the Justice Church of God where she loved to sing for the Lord.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, and yard sales. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, Jackson Grimmett; her sons, Freddie (Emma) Grimmett of Gilbert, Phillip (Rachel) Stevens of Parkersburg; her daughters, Sandra Grimmett of Sunhill, Sheila (Mark) Blankenship of North Spring, Samantha (Brandon) Layne of Baisden; her brothers, David (Patricia) Stevens of Man, Mark (Veronica) Stevens of Madison; her sisters, Vicky Stevens of Gilbert, Carol (Walter) Jude of Neds Branch, Elizabeth Brown of Man and Oma Hall of Ballard, WV; her grandchildren, Jay (Ali) Grimmett of Gilbert, Ashley Grimmett (Rodney Fyfe) of Wharncliffe, Josh (Bork) Grimmett of Gilbert, Desiree (Brandon) Bailey of Jessie, Richard (Cathlean) Deer of Sabine, Destiny Deer of North Spring, Savannah and Brantley Layne of Baisden, Jeremiah and Britton Stevens of Man, Phillip and Calvin Stevens of Newport, OH, Braden Stevens of Parkersburg, Jasmine (Cody) Gibson of Ikes Fork, Jacob Blankenship of Beckley, Jordon Blankenship of North Spring; and 16 great grandchildren.

Viola also leaves behind her very special church family and friends, whom she loved dearly. 

Friends may gather with the Grimmett Family Monday, June 20, 2020 from 6pm to 9pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel for a Visitation.  Funeral services will commence on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 1pm with the Rev. Bill Cresong officiating.   Burial will follow in the Grimmett family cemetery at Staffords Branch, Gilbert.

Viola will be carried to her final resting place by her grandsons. 

Although gone from our sight, but never from our heart.
