Virginia Simpson Obituary

Virginia Simpson, 90, of Justice, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 17, 2019, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born on May 2, 1928, at Gilbert, she was the daughter of the late Cleve and Sarah (Musick) Carter. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Simpson; two sons: Roger Simpson and Tommy Joe Simpson; six brothers: Charlie, Ezra, Cecil, Grover, Everett and George Carter; and five sisters: Mattie Adkins, Carrie Perry, Genevieve Carter, Mary Carter and Martha Carter.

Virginia was a loving soul with a caring heart. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was very devoted to her family. Virginia loved to garden and work with her flowers. She also enjoyed collecting clocks, having over 20 clocks in her home. Virginia will long be remembered for her gentle spirit and kindness to others.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are two daughters: Stella Vanover of Hanover and Dimple Arrant of Blairsville, GA; three sons: Arnold (Toni) Simpson of Justice, Harry (Linda) Simpson of Beach Park, IL, and David Simpson of Justice; her grandchildren: Beverly (Chet) Cline of Justice, Michael Tate of Blairsville, GA, Jada (Justin) Mitchell of St. Albans, Richard (Tara) Vanover of Hanover, John Simpson of Justice, and Pam (Kevin) Coughlin of Illinois; a special great-grandson, whom she loved dearly, Shawn Cline of Justice; her caregivers: Minnie Newcomb and Rita Cline; and her cockatoo, Hoochie. Virginia also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with many other relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Thursday, March 21, 2019, from 6-9 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert with a special service beginning at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the chapel with Rev. Walter Grimmett officiating.

Burial will follow in the Simpson Family Cemetery at Neds Branch, Gilbert, WV. Those serving as pallbearers include: Shawn and Nick Cline, Kevin Coughlin, Johnny Simpson, John Simpson, and Richard Vanover. Honorary pallbearers include: Rev. Joe Lester, Tim Toler, Jimmy and Jackie Adkins, Steve and Glen Carter.

Her wonderful smile and tender heart will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
