William "Billy" Edward Surber

William “Billy” Edward Surber, 92, of Gilbert, WV passed away at home Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

Born October 4, 1932, at Isaban, WV he was the son of the late George and Lydia (Cline) Surber.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Norma Jean Surber, an infant son Edmond, an infant great grandson Jonah, an infant great granddaughter, Lilah, brothers Charles and Alfred Surber, and sisters Mae Miller and Virgie Grubb.

He was a proud veteran, serving as a Corporal in the US Army, and a devoted dad and granddad.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his son Douglas (Pamela) Surber, his two daughters Deborah (Kennith) Hatfield and Deena Surber all of Gilbert, his four grandchildren Jerome (Carri Jo) Lester of Gilbert, Kenny (Jessica) Hatfield of Kenova, Lindsay (Scott) Cline of Varney, and Kyle Surber of Gilbert, 6 great grandchildren Amelia and Owen Lester, Darcie, Elliott, and Anson Hatfield, and Nora Cline, three sisters Hazel Hunt of Gilbert, Betty Ballance of Chesapeake, VA, and Ann Surber of Virginia Beach, VA.  He also leaves behind a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 11:00AM till 12:00PM in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home where funeral services will commence at 12:00PM with Pastor Walter Grimmett officiating.  Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
