William "Bob" Herbert Strickland

William “Bob” Herbert Strickland, 68, went to be with the lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from Logan Regional Medical Center.  

Born April 6, 1957, Bob was the son of the late Lucille Elswick Stanley, and raised by his grandfather Ranse Elswick and grandmother Magalene Elswick, along with his mother Lucille. In addition to his parents and grandmother, he was also preceded in death by his wife: Shelba Strickland; son: Steve “Whitey” Ellis; and sister: Donna Gibson.  

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, watching westerns on tv, and his daily phone calls with Larry and his kids. Always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, he made everyone feel like family. He was known for always joking around, but most importantly he will be remembered as a good man who loved his family.  

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons: Paul (Shay) Strickland, Matt (Kansas) Strickland, Mickey Ray (Jessica) Ellis, and Timothy Eugene (Erica) Ellis; daughter: Shelia Carol (Manny) Cline; grandchildren: Mitchell (Michelle) Cline, Justin (Laura) Cline, Brittney Cline (James) Lester, Cheyenne Basenbeck, Chavez Strickland, Isabella Strickland, Alex Strickland, Makai Strickland, Kaden Christian, Avery Christian, Skyler Strickland, Raven Strickland, Kamdyn Strickland, Eden Strickland, Lacey New, Brandy Christian, Billy Jack Christian, Angel Ellis, Dominique Ellis, and Conner Ellis; brother: Larry Stanley; sister: Connie Lee; special friend: Garrett Lowe; his dog and companion: Harley; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.  

Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, WV on Thursday, December 11, from 6 – 9 p.m., with special services to begin at 7 p.m.  Funeral services will commence the following day, Friday, December 12, at 12 p.m., with Pastor Jeremy Compton officiating.  Burial will follow at the Lester Family Cemetery, War Eagle, WV.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
