Woodrow Wilson Murphy “Woody”, age 71, of Delbarton, departed this world for heaven after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, July 9th, 2022.
Woody was born in Mingo County on November 19th, 1950 to Albert and Francis (Evans) Murphy.
Being the second born of thirteen children. 24 years later he met the love of his life, Nancy Jane Bowens whom he happily shared his life with for 45 years. He was a proud servant of God who actively attended Orville Holiness and loved to serve our Lord. Woody was a retired coal miner who enjoyed many things; his family, his pets, gardening, chopping wood, and playing games such as horseshoes and Rook. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his only grandson, Thomas.
Woody is survived by his loving wife Nancy, as well as loving daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Kathern, Todd, and Thomas Terrance. He is also survived by several siblings including David (Patricia) Murphy, Damon (Bobbie Jo) Murphy, Marion (Janie) Murphy, Edwin (Amy) Murphy, Arlene Runyon, Kenneth (Jeanie) Murphy, Dennis Murphy, Timothy (Shirley) Murphy, Tresa (David) Dotson, Connie (Benjamin) Moore, and many nieces and nephews. Although he has left them behind his memory will live on forever in their hearts and minds.
Woody is reunited in heaven with his parents Albert and Francis. He is also reunited with his brother Junior and sister Dinah.
To honor his request, he was cremated.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
