On the evening of the 17th of August 2011 in the town of Kenova, West Virginia, God called home the sweetest man on earth Lee Hatfield, of Justice West Virginia. Lee was a coal miner for Cobra Natural Resources, in Wharncliffe, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Mandy Hatfield, his oldest sister Juanita Lilly, brother-in-law Eugene Brown, and recently his nephew Ed Brown, who was like a brother, as well as, a precious aunt Sylvia (Sib) Vance and an unborn child.
He is survived by his wife Jean Vanover Hatfield, who enjoyed every moment that she was able to spend with her soulmate of almost 36 years. Out of their love was born a son, Blake Hatfield. Blake is now married to Brooke Adams Hatfield and they reside in Raceland, Kentucky. With this marriage, Lee was blessed to be a Grandpa to Kylie Blankenbeckler and to baby Isabella who is to be born in October.
Lee (Jr.) was the baby brother to five surviving sistsers. Janice (Eugene) Brown, of Wharncliffe WV, Ruby (Taylor) Bishop of Gallatin TN, Margie (Marcial) Toler of Abingdon VA, Rose (Jim) England of Bland VA, and Deborah Mudd of Charleston WV. Lee also had one surviving brother Walden (Michelle) Hatfield of Bristol TN, and brother-in-law Gene Lilly. He had a host of many special nieces and nephews. When he gathered with his family, every moment was cherished, they were always laughing and singing and most of all, enjoying each others company.
When Lee and Jean started their lives together, Lee brought much joy to the lives of his mother and father-in-law, Oscar and Mary Vanover of Justice, WV. He brought the same joy to the lives of his sisters-in-law, Genell Simpson and Meletta (Darren) Stanley. Although he never had a daughter of his own, he had the pleasure of being a wonderful uncle to Jada (Justin) Mitchell of Cross Lanes, WV and Natalie Stanley of North Spring, WV. Lee had many, many, many special women in his life and “Girls, know in your hearts that he loved you.”
When he and Jean were married, Lee became so much a part of the Vance family. The entire family saw Lee as their friend, brother, and uncle. He was very much loved by all the Vance family. Lee shared the love of the family, as they brought immense happiness to his life.
Visitation will be held at The Four Winds Tabernacle near Justice WV, on Sunday August 21, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The funeral will be Monday, August 22 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Clayton Cline and Rev. Jackie Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Justice Community Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of Mounts Funeral Home.
