Franklin Stanley, 75 of Wharncliffe, departed this life on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at his residence.
Born on June 17, 1935 at Wharncliffe, he was the son of the late George and Alta Bradford Stanley.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Shelby Browning Stanley; two sons: Dwayne “Doodle” and Howard Wayne Stanley; three brothers: Harrison, Hollie, and Virgil Stanley; and one sister, Betty Peopke.
Franklin was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a retired coal miner, a veteran of the US Army, and of the Protestant faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his two sons: Audie Franklin Stanley and Michael Henry of Lake City Florida; his three sisters: Inas Mounts of Baisden, Virginia Sparks of Wharncliffe, and Janice Gibson of Gilbert; his six grandchildren; his four great grandchildren; a special friend, Thurman Hinkle of Wharncliffe; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family, to celebrate Franklin’s life, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Sunday, July 11th from 6 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 12th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jonas Trent officiating. Military grave rite services will be performed by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #141 of Belfry Kentucky.
Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Wharncliffe Station of Wharncliffe.
He will be carried to his final resting place by his family and friends.
